I love quotes. When I’m in a bookstore, I like to let my eyes wander over the quotable cards, a collection of greeting cards, journals, magnets with famous quotes printed in bold fonts. When I doodle, I writes quotes rather than drawing pictures.
One quote that I am drawn to over and over again is “Life is not about finding yourself; life is about creating yourself.” (I think the author is unknown.)
Is this true?
For me, this is a very profound struggle that goes on inside of me frequently. Is life about me accepting who I am and loving myself as is? Or is life about me making choices so that I can become who I want to be – creating the best version of my self?
Maybe, a little of both?
This is a huge question mark for me, and, as with most things in life, I think the answer is probably somewhere in the middle. I need to accept myself for who I am, and I need to make choices about the kind of girl I want to be. “The different between who you are and who you want to be is what you do” – I found this quote on marcandangel.com, a website I just discovered today. Be who you are and be who you want to be – it’s all about balance.
