My first-ever book club met last night!
I’m calling it Wild Peace Book Club, because it originated when I was weeding a row of chard with my friend The Naturalist and talking about books. Out loud, I lamented the fact that I’d never been in a book club before – and Wild Peace Book Club was born!
We met at Belvedere Square Market, eating Atwater’s, sipping coffee, and talking about our first official Book Club book – Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, by Maria Semple. I don’t love giving book reviews, but I would like to share that I read this book in less than a day; I couldn’t put it down. It’s extremely readable, entertaining, and fun – without being silly or insubstantial. It’s kind of a mystery, but with a more light-hearted. Semple was a writer for Arrested Development, too, which was a big attraction for all of us. (Wild Peace Book Club currently consists of The Naturalist, Tee, and me – more members to come!) Definitely a good read!
