A wise and gentle friend told me recently that I need to write more. I know that writing is helpful and healing and powerful for me – but this advice was extremely motivating to me, as advice from wise and gentle friends often is.
I’ve been following a Gretchen Rubin adage: What you do EVERY DAY matters more than what you do ONCE IN A WHILE. So every morning, I’ve been waking up at 5 a.m. and spending 30 minutes writing. And on days when I oversleep and don’t have 30 minutes, I sit down on the couch with my coffee and my laptop and I write for 10 minutes, or 5, or 2 – just to keep the habit in place.
Finding an outlet with which to express myself has been helping me tremendously. This year has been really hard – but the past few weeks, since beginning to blog, have felt just a little bit easier.
